Pisobilities: 10 Financial Commandments

Hello, my dear readers! I hope you're all doing well and financially stable this first quarter of 2016. I apologize for my long absence here in my blog because I'm hella busy doing office works, job-hunting, and budgeting. To sum it out I'm going nuts but let's not talk about it right now. Hehe.

Anyhow, I want to share with you 10 financial commandments that I learned from Pisobilities; it is a financial show I frequently watch here in the Philippines thru UNTV channel. I am an avid viewer of the show and the main host Mr. Francisco Colayco shares awesome tips that I try to exercise in my money woes. I hope reading below 10 lists will inspire you to be financially free from expenses and start building your emergency fund.

1. Pay yourself first - save, save and save!

2. Define your financial target at each life phase:

-Start-up stage: 3 months cash reserve
-Build-up stage: 6 months cash reserve
-Asset Allocation stage: 5 years of cash reserve

3. Stop spending on things that will decline in value

4. Protect your greatest income generating asset (YOU),  seek for protection like insurance: term life insurance and hospital insurance

5. Grow with the economy and beat inflation

6. Trust the power of compound interest

7. Assess risks and options:

Remember: The higher the return, the higher the risk!

8. The power of leverage

9. Invest and diversify

10. Make use of the power of one:

-Mutual funds
-UITF's
-VUL

7 Frugal Hacks that I Do to Save

http://kuripotadventure.blogspot.com/2015/08/7-frugal-hacks-that-i-do.html
I don't mind being teased as a cheapskate. My father would call me "Corry" a name he coined for me which means "Kuripot" whenever I mention the lines budgeting or saving money to my mom. I just shrug it off!

My mantra this year is to live below my means so that I can build enough emergency fund quickly. Some of my frugal hacks might be silly and gross to others, but I don't care. Haha. Feel free to read my frugal hacks that I listed below:

1. I bring packed lunch at the office every day. It saves me 75-150 pesos on buying food at the jolly jeep or fast food chain in Makati CBD.

2. I don't buy cologne or perfume because we use fabric conditioner for our clothes at home, and I shower every day. I'm confident that I don't have a funky smell. LOL. Guys, taking a bath is the key to prevent bad odor.

3. We dilute the shampoo with water. We also do this to our dish washing liquid to maximize the usage.

4.  In our house, we use sugar instead of flavor enhancer (MSG/vetsin). I learned it from my former officemate. It is inexpensive and organic too!

5. We save the last part of the laundry water to flush the toilet or clean the bathroom.

6. Instead of riding a UV Express Van (50 pesos fare), I ride a PNR train on my way home. I only paid 10 pesos for my fare, however, when there's a heavy rain or I am not feeling well I ride a UV express instead. Let's say I know when to choose convenience when the weather is bad.

7. We collect empty plastic bottles and papers. We put it in a sack/plastic bag and sell it to a nearby junk shop. Another way to earned additional money!

So that's it for now. Do you have any frugal tips that you want to share? Leave your suggestions in the comments box.
